Fiverr was found in 2010 and grew very fast. The website transaction has grown over 600% and hosted over 1.3 million gigs (micro-jobs). Through Fiverr, services offered include writing, graphic design, logo design, translation, data entry, video editing & programming.
What is a gig in Fiverr?
A micro job on Fiverr is called a “Gig,” and gigs start at a minimum cost of $5. It means the base price of any service through Fiverr is $5 (also known as one Fiverr). However, the order can extend to hundreds of dollars if you offer any add-on services (known as “Gig Extras”).
How does Fiverr work?
As mentioned before, Fiverr is an online platform that brings freelancers with various skills ranging from writing till social media marketing and web designing services - the companies or people in need of those together. Freelancers earn money by providing the necessary service. It is not for free. Fiverr charges a commission on the earnings of the freelancers.
Fiverr lets the buyers pay in advance for the gigs, which are any freelance services. When the order or the job is completed, the seller receives 80% of the total order value. For example, a $5 gig makes the freelancer earn $4 for a completed order.
Fiverr for Buyers:
The buyer browses through the category pages or can also use the search tool to find the gig he needs to purchase. For example, you need a content writer, and you find the list of content writers by searching. Sorting or selecting could be a bit tricky, and for that, you need to go through the description and the services they offer.
You can message the seller with questions if you have any and review whether your project would be something they can do. Once you finalize the seller and ready to make a purchase, you have several ways to make the payment. Fiverr recommends you to go through their site to pay for secured payment. All purchases have a processing fee of $1 on purchases up to $20 and 5% on gigs above $20.
Once you buy a gig, the order is placed with the seller. The money goes to the seller only when the order is completed. Before the order gets completed, you can review and potentially request any changes based on the gig's nature before the full payment goes through.
Fiverr for Sellers:
Sellers need to set up profiles and create custom gigs that you can sell on the site. As a seller, you can set your price and offer add-ons to your gigs to bump up the cost. If a buyer decides to purchase your gig, their money is taken from their account and will be on hold for you until the order is completed.
Sellers get 80% of what they earn on each gig they successfully sell and deliver. Selling more gigs improves your seller rating. That means you will find potentially visible and will be able to charge more for the services you offer.
Apply discount codes/promo codes on Fiverr
As a buyer, you need to pay a processing fee to Fiverr for finding the service provider. However, numerous coupons and discount codes are available over the internet to reduce that and even get a discount on the charges. While you select the offer from a seller, it directs you to the payment. There you can apply the coupon code you have to get the discount.
